My Style..
Working in studio, on location, or at your home. I’m all about hanging out, having fun and doing what I love and I absolutely do my best work when people are just themselves and they’re not waiting for me to pose them. For me, it’s about capturing kids and family at play or the relationship between siblings or a mother & daughter, father & son. I’m a bit of a sap so I like to shoot for a variety of emotions too. Fresh and creative collaboration between myself and my client turns out the best images so I love to hear your ideas! I would describe my style as natural and spontaneous.
What is the Process
The process for custom photography can actually take a few months from start to finish depending on your schedule and my schedule.
- 2 weeks to several months for booking, planning & getting ready for the session
- session is 1-2 hours
- images are ready for viewing 10-14 days from session date
- ordering process, design process for albums collages & galleries + client proofing 2-6 weeks
- printing, production of albums, prints, collages, etc. 2-4 weeks
What should I wear?
Styling a session is SO important! We’ll talk about this over the phone, during a consult so I can get a feel for everyone’s like’s/dislikes and personal style. Then I’ll give you some advice. The sky is the limit nowadays and we’ve been known to do multiple clothing changes during a shoot just to keep things interesting! I love hats, layers, jeans, bare feet, skirts that blow in the wind, textures, bright colours, sexy shoes, polka dots, stripes, pettiskirts, tutus, pajamas, blue. Don’t worry, once we get talking about it, you’ll have some clarity!
How much does it cost?
Professional photography is an investment. My clients find me mostly through word of mouth for the most part. They not only love their images, but they adore their albums and custom displays that I create for them. I recently received an email from a client who told her family if there was ever a fire in her house, she grabs the kids and the album… the cat is on her own… (poor kitty). My clients believe, as I do that their images deserve the honor of being printed or made into something beautiful. The initial investment starts with the session fee and there is a minimum order requirement of $500 on all sessions.
When should I schedule?
As soon as possible. Our maternity, newborn & family clients tend to book their sessions in advance to get their preferred date, so if you are looking for a certain time of the year or “look” (or a weekend). book now!
Where do we hold the session?
I have two studios. A natural light studio in my home where I shoot newborns and young families and a downtown studio with full lighting set-up. Honestly though, my favorite place to shoot is outside and I’ve been known to hit the railroad tracks, find an abandoned house, a beautiful field, brick walls, whatever we can find to make your images my new favorite session ever! I’m happy to come to you to create images in your home or backyard or your favorite hang out too. Please plan on early morning or late afternoon for outdoor images. Natural light sessions in the studio are booked in the mornings for the best light.
How do I view my images?
Your images will be ready for viewing 10-14 days after your session. We will set up an ordering session with the lovely Candace (my assistant) & she will help you choose your favorite images and give you some options on how to choose a display that suits your budget and your space. We are not high pressure sales, we believe that the images should sell themselves and our roll is to make your decision making the ordering process enjoyable and stress free. We want to help you create something amazing with your images, so we’ll help you choose the images that work best together for your album, or collage so that we can create something that you are going to love!
When will my order be ready?
Once you place your order, your final prints will be ready in approximately 3-4 weeks. Mounted portraits & specialty items such as collages and albums & framed prints take 6-8 weeks. Holiday orders may take longer due to high volume. Rush orders are subject to a 25% surcharge.
Can I order more portraits from my session in the future?
We highly recommend that you make all your selections during the initial ordering process. Due to the nature of digital files, we are unable to archive images for any length of time, therefore, unordered images are purged from the system after 45 days. There is a $250.00 minimum order requirement on archived images.
Are the digital files available for purchase?
They are, but it will cost you. I used to sell the dvd on all orders, however, I have found that I am not happy about my work being printed and displayed in an unprofessional manner. When I see my gorgeous image in a frame at your house, printed by a consumer lab and looking rather nasty, It brings tears to my eyes. So, the answer is no, not unless you want to pay A LOT of money for them and then I will suck it up. We have replaced the dvd option with a slideshow version for you though, so you have all the images to view at any time. I also offer facebook sized images for you to share with friends and family online.
