MOTHER & DAUGHTER | Kim Mallory Fraser Valley Portrait Photographer

My all time favorite photo is of Jenna & I together when she was just seven years old.  She’s sitting on my lap and has a huge smile and I’m cuddling her, my cheek resting on her head and I have a look of complete contentment and happiness on my face (and not one wrinkle thanks to photoshop haha)    It sits on my dresser and every night when I go to bed it makes me smile and every morning when I wake up it reminds me of just how lucky I am.   When Trina called me and told me she wanted a nice photo of her and her daughter together, I understood exactly why she wanted it.  There is nothing more sacred than a mother/daughter relationship and I know when Jenna gets to be a teenager, I can look back and remember that we did love each other more than life itself and I have a picture to prove it.  These moments are so fleeting I can’t even believe how quickly the time goes.   I’m so glad I have that picture and I think Trina is so wise to come in just for this special purpose.   So here is a sneak peek at our quick little, in studio, session that took about 20 minutes to shoot and will provide years of enjoyment…

BABIES and TODDLERS | Kim Mallory Baby & Child photographer, Fraser Valley

One last post before I leave for my 4 day retreat to Vegas with my girlfriends.   Well, okay, maybe it’s not a “retreat” but I’m up for getting the heck out of Dodge for a few days.    As I’m editing these I’m reminded of my own two girls who were 22 months apart and how Nicole tried to put a hair clip in Jenna’s non-existent hair at this age.    I caught Nicole just as she was starting to poke the pointy end of the clip into Jenna’s little head.   Fun times, fun times…  Now, I am just tormented by pre-teens and I’m convinced if I enjoy Vegas too much I might not come back.  It’s hard to put a finger on what the hard part of raising children is.  Every stage has it’s moments that’s for sure but as Jenna went to bed tonight and looked at me with those big sad eyes and told me she would miss me, I know why it’s important for mom’s to get away for a break, because getting that kind of sweetness nowadays apparently only happens when the mom is leaving town (at this stage anyway!).

Anyway, it was so great to see this family again for baby #2!  I can’t wait to get back just to go through the rest of these photos!

Family Maternity Session | Maternity Photography by Kim Mallory

I had the pleasure of shooting a sweet, sweet family last week…Janine, Lauren & Piper for a family/maternity session and we did a headshot for Janine too while we were at it.   (I just love that she knew exactly what she wanted!  I’m all about multitasking and just getting it done too – a girl after my own heart.)

What we didn’t expect was the misty meadow that we shot in…  it made for some really beautiful lighting and effect….  and I was in my glory, I wanted to camp out there for the whole day.   We had so much fun.  Piper was so cute.  She wanted Janine to tickle me…  and make me laugh, just as I was trying to tickle her.. to make her laugh.   Such a smartie and a good little girl!

I have so many photos that I love….  so hard to pick… these are so random though.

ONE + ONE = FUN! | Fraser Valley Child Photographer

I’ve been on a shooting marathon the last 3 days starting with this wonderful family from Langley.   This is our second session together.  The first time I met them, they were a family of 3 – now they are a family of 4.   Parker the newest addition, now 6 months old.

Now, if you have kids that are this close, you know that it’s busy!  I shoot a lot of siblings at this age and I have been through this stage myself with my own kids and it is crazy time let me tell ya!   I’m taken back to a period in my life when my kids were little and we would go on vacation and expect that they would behave better than when we were home…  ummmmm ya – didn’t happen.    I believe photo sessions are no different for parents.

So moms..  you need to know that your kids are right where they need to be.. they are all the same and some day they will sit next to each other and smile at the camera.   Until then, we’ll embrace this time of their lives and document their glorious, pouty, sweet, silly little selves….

BABY BABY! | Kim Mallory Maternity Photographer Fraser Valley

I had the pleasure of photographing the DePape family last weekend.  I’ve known Melissa since she brought her cute little pregnant self over to my studio over 2 years ago… and then Nevaeh, for an amazing newborn session.    Melissa loves photography too and she is full of fun ideas!    Now she’s back with baby bump #2 and the rest of the family..   Nevaeh is just the spunkiest little cutie pie, full of sweetness and just lit up the room.    We ended the session with Melissa’s girlfriend Serena, who came fully prepared with a bag of cute clothes and hats.  Fun times!
