KIM MALLORY PHOTOGRAPHY DOWNTOWN | Boudoir, Pin-up Style Photography, Diva Room

If you haven’t already heard, I am no longer going to be a part of Adore pictures; a studio I opened last year in downtown Chilliwack with a business partner. After a lot of soul searching I’ve come to realize that I can’t do it all and I just need to focus on doing what I love.

As a result of this change Adore pictures has moved and KIM MALLORY PHOTOGRAPHY has taken over the downtown Chilliwack location. This studio space is amazing and it has so much beauty and history, I am completely inspired by it. It was built over 100 years ago and after a bit of research I found out it was Chilliwack’s first silent theatre and a meeting place of the local suffragettes; a woman’s movement that fought to give woman their right to vote! It has old tin ceilings and beautiful hardwood floors and behind the drywall is still the original archway of the stage which can be seen if you poke your head into the attic. It’s so cool!

I’m in the process of transforming this studio into a boutique style with the plan of taking the boudoir out of my home studio and expanding The Beautiful Woman Project to also include Pin-up Photography! Having this studio gives me more options for shooting clients and I’ll also be hosting events & workshops. I will continue to work out of my home studio and as per usual, everything is by appointment.

If you are a local photographer I will be leasing out some studio space and I’m also looking for services & products that compliment The Beautiful Woman Project. I want to create a really special space that will empower & pamper woman and I am open to all creative ideas. I have tons of space to work with and would love to create a co-op of businesses under the same roof so let’s talk!

So, without further ado, here is a “sneak peek” of the studio space..  This week I’ll be hanging wallpaper and backdrops for my new sets and everything has to be done by September 24th in time for our DIVA Fashion Gala! Get your ticket soon and come and visit me in my new digs!!

AMY SEELEY | Independent Singer/Songwriter

I received this beautiful message from singer/song writer Amy Seeley today in response to a message I left on her blog.  I only wish I had this kind of depth in my writing…. someday I’ll bare my soul, for now… I will use my sense of humour as a shield to protect my inner thoughts and feelings.   I’m not quite there yet but getting closer to realizing my passions and being able to articulate how I feel…. and to some day be able to make a profound impact on a life as Amy does so eloquently in her musings….

dear kim,

portland is welcoming in september with a cool, refreshing morning rain …
mornings like these are rich grounds for ponderings .
& your note sparked just that in me . thank you for writing it .
your words … “where i left off” have me contemplating .
the photo you sent is so beautiful …
& i can’t help but say that i am hoping your creative soul is fascinated today .
that you know your uniqueness … the ways that only you, kim, can create photos, words, a book even .
may you know through and through the remarkable givings you have inside you, today, to offer .
to yourself .
and those around you .
from my heart to yours,
sincerely,
amy

Singing was my first love…. then I found photography.  And although I love what I do, I still have a yearning to go back to singing at coffee houses and finding it in me to finish the song I started writing.   Although I loved it wasn’t my calling…..  a girl can still dream though…

and a post isn’t a post without an image and since I’m feeling emotional today…

DIVA! BOUTIQUE | Kim Mallory, Commercial Photographer.

Diva! (definition taken from the Urban Dictionary)

D-delightful
I-invasive
V-vivacious
A-attitude

A girl or woman with an exaggerated sense of self-importance. requiring a great deal of attention and excessive effort to maintain beauty, style and image.

And (I say this with a head tilt and a finger in the air)  ”We should all allow ourselves to be a diva once it awhile.  It’s part of the fun of being a girl!”   Every woman deserves to be pampered…  This is why I love The Beautiful Woman Project and shooting boudoir.. it allows us to step away from life and be glamorous for a day.   I shot these images for Diva! for use in their promotions and advertising.   I have also found Diva! to be a great place to shop if you’re planning your boudoir session.   They have amazing shoes, (I mean you will really feel like a diva with these shoes on.)… and lots of accessories including gloves, hair pieces and 50′s inspired clothes, perfect for a pin-up session.  Diva boutique is located on Mill Street, downtown Chilliwack, which has amazing shopping so you must get down there for an afternoon and check it out!

TILL DIRTY LAUNDRY DO US PART | Kim Mallory Photography, Vernon Wedding

More images from my beautiful friend Elyse’s wedding.   She is such a character and we had lots of laughs talking about men, marriage and laundry… Like really, because I’m a girl it’s my duty to do all the laundry?   Call me a feminist, but I just don’t think it’s fair to have to do 10 loads of laundry a week for the rest of my married life – nope – it’s notgonnahappen.   Haha!  Now I’m a bad influence to all newly married couples – the guys are going to hate me!   Girls… you can make the call AFTER the wedding is over… he won’t know what hit him.  (just don’t tell him you got the idea from me) heheh.
